The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation hosted a demonstration of investment opportunities of Tomsk region. The presentation gathered Russian and foreign entrepreneurs, the authorities, representatives of embassies, trade missions and journalists.

Tomsk region is one of the most interesting regions in the country, said in his welcoming speech the President of the CCI of Russia Sergey Katyrin. He agreed with the governor of Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin that is an island in the ocean of knowledge resources. Tomsk University is one of the best in Russia. The region has one of the most diversified economies in the country. The agriculture labor productivity of this Siberian region is one of the highest in the country. Tomsk region is a modern, well-paced area, where the most important of its wealth is the people said Sergey Katyrin.

Tomsk area is home to around a one million people with an average age of 38 years. It’s often referred to as the students city because it’s a place where the citizens of more than 60 foreign countries are receiving the higher education; the region ranks second in Russia by the number of people with an advanced studies per thousand people, the second in the level of innovation activity and the third place in terms of research and development. There developed oil and gas production, petrochemicals, mining, metallurgy, nuclear industry, medicine and IT-technology, energy, forest products, and in spite of the harsh climate- agriculture.

At the end of the presentation the governor of Tomsk region Sergei Zhvachkin and the president of the CCI of Russia Sergey Katyrin answered numerous questions from the business community and journalists.
