The annual meeting of the Russian-Chinese Business Council (RCBC) for 2017 was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia. The moderator of the event was the Chairman and the main shareholder of the Volga Group Gennady Timchenko, the Сhairman of the RCBC. The meeting also was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Russia Li Hui, the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia Vladimir Padalko, the representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Bank of Russia, the Russian-Chinese Friendship, Peace and Development Committee.
The Russian-Chinese business council remains the leading platform for exchanging information and establishing direct contacts between the business circles of Russia and China, Gennady Timchenko stressed. He said that in October 2017, the RKCS concluded an agreement on cooperation with the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia, which unites more than 4,000 Chinese companies. During the meeting, Gennady Timchenko thanked the Chinese Embassy in Russia and personally Ambassador Li Hui for his constant support of the activities of the RCBC.
China's Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Russia Li Hui highly appreciated the activities of the RCBC. He noted that there have been positive changes in the structure of bilateral trade, including in the high-tech sphere; cooperation on the development of the Far East and the Arctic is intensifying; in the field of cross-border electronic commerce; etc. He also added that the important role in the activation of cooperation is played by the RCBC which stimulates the strengthening and deepening of interaction between the business circles of the two countries.
Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vladimir Padalko thanked Gennady Timchenko and Li Hui for his support and assistance in the work of the business council. He noted that the RCBS was created with the aim of promoting joint economic projects between Russia and China, and also to promote cooperation between Russian and Chinese business circles. To date, the RCBC unites more than 80 Russia's largest enterprises and business associations that are doing business with China. Large-scale trade, economic and investment projects are being implemented under the auspices of the RCBC.
The meeting was also addressed by the Director of the RCBC Alexei Kalashnik, Ms. Liu Jiadan on behalf of the chairman of the Sino-Russian Business Council, representatives of ministries and departments.
At the end of the event the Business Council's work plan for 2018 was adopted.
