Digital economy, economic integration of Belgium and Luxembourg Economic Union (BLEU) and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), financial technologies, expansion of participation of foreign companies in the territory of the EAEU became topics of discussion 3rd Annual Forum “BLEU-EAEU 2017 "Strategy for growth" Trends, Opportunities, Challenges and Cooperation” held in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation. The forum was organized by the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Russia (BLCCR) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation.
All participants noted the importance of developing trade and economic relations between strategic partners and mutual interest in strengthening business ties between Belgium, Luxembourg and EAEU.
Mr. Arkady Arianoff, Chairman of the Board of the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce in Russia, assured that BLCCR will offer new services for the development of partnership and cooperation between member companies of the Chambers in 2018.
Mr. Vladimir Padalko, Vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, stressed the need to search for new growth points. He noted that despite a twofold reduction in the volume of mutual trade due to the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union, interest in mutual cooperation remains. This year, growth in the Russian-Belgian (+ 23%) and Russian-Luxembourg (+ 6%) turnover was noticeable. It is important to support the positive trends that have been outlined this year.
The governor of the Novgorod region, Mr. Andrei Nikitin, stressed the desire to develop trade, economic, educational, cultural and scientific ties as well as friendly relations between representatives of the authorities and business circles of Belgium and Luxembourg and the region headed by him.
The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Russian Federation Mr. Jean Arthur Regibeau noted the growth of trade, the strengthening of economic ties, and stressed that the Bank of Russia took active steps to stabilize the situation in the banking sector.
Indicators of growth in exports of goods were voiced by the deputy head of the diplomatic mission of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr. Gilles Bauer.
Mr. Sergey Shukhno, the Director of the Department for the Development of Integration of the Eurasian Economic Commission pointed out the acute angles, while stressing that the organizations are mutual trading partners, and Belgium and Luxembourg are one of the most important investors in the EAEU.
The Memorandum of Cooperation between the Novgorod Region and the Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce was signed during the event.
