The Coordination Committee on Cooperation with the countries of Africa (AfroCom) general meeting took place at the CCI of Russia on April 7th.
The event was attended by Vice president CCI of Russia Vladimir Padalko, Director General JSC "Russian Export Center" Petr Fradkov, Director of the All-Russian Research Conjucture Institute, Chairman of External Economic Activity Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Andrey Spartak, Director of the Institute for African studies RAS Irina Abramova, Deputy Chairman of the Council for the development of relations with African countries CCI MO Lyubov Demidova, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, representatives of Russian business companies.
At the opening session Vladimir Padalko noted the important role of AfroCom for Russian business on the African continent. At the present time the Committee consists of 140 member-companies and organizations. The Russian companies are working in cooperation with AfroCom and Business councils in Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan and other African countries.
The election of the AfroCom Chairman took place at the meeting. As a result of the election the Director General JSC "Russian Export Center" Petr Fradkov was elected as the Сhairman. In his speech Petr Fradkov defined the priority areas for the work of the Committee and its tasks for the near future.
The analysis of the current state of Russian-African trade and economic relations were made by Andrey Spartak, Irina Abramova, Lyubov Demidova and others.
As a result of the event, it was decided to create an Expert Council on the basis of AfroCom. Irina Abramova was approved as a head of the Expert Council.
